In order to cook
red lentils, they have to be prepared before being cooked. The whole seeds need
to be washed and rinsed several times until the water is clear. This process
should be repeated two or three times in a large bowl of water. After that,
remove any stones or dirt from the seeds by rubbing them between your hands.
Finally, they have to be dried in a clean towel and then transferred into a pot
on low heat for around 20 minutes (this will depend on the size of your lentil)
Lentils are the
perfect healthy, filling and cheap alternative to other high-calorie foods. It
is rich in fiber, folate, iron and magnesium. Because of their richness in
fiber, lentils have been connected with weight loss diets such as the DASH Diet
for decades. Lentils are also packed with folate which can help improve vision
problems like macular degeneration that many older adults often suffer from and
may not even be aware of until a loss in eyesight has already occurred. The
iron content of lentils helps build hemoglobin while they also contain a number
of minerals which help prevent diseases and infections that can cause fatigue
or dizziness including asthma, malaria and tuberculosis.
One of the main
advantages of a vegan diet is that one can easily get their daily requirements
of protein, calcium and iron which are often hard to come by in a plant-based
diet. Lentils work great for this because they offer 12.4 grams per cup so they
can be a quick and easy source of protein. They're also a good source for
calcium and iron while offering other health benefits such as improving
digestion, boosting vitamin C levels

I am not a fan of
red lentil soup. I like my food to make me feel complete, not sleepy. Another
reason is that I often find the lentils take over and I don't get any
vegetables. However, there are ways to make it more enjoyable for those who
like the taste of lentils in soup.
Some people like
their red lentil soup made with tomatoes or mushrooms and garlic or ginger;
this makes their dish a bit more mine-like, so they feel less complete. Some recipes use
cream, which can help make the meal more filling without making them sleepier,
so you won't have to eat a second serving later in the day!
The dish was a hit
among my family, friends and even eaten by me. There are many ways to make your
meal more enjoyable, such as adding meat, cheese or cream for some added
flavor. You could also add vegetables to it, such as tomatoes or mushrooms,
adding color and variety to the dish.
I often use black-eyed
peas or white beans when I need to use beans that day. However, red lentils
work just fine as they are naturally the same size as black-eyed peas and white
beans and can be cooked the same way.
